Badges
Red numbers on the sidebar show what needs your attention:
- Messages: unread texts.
- Phone: missed calls since you last opened Phone. Opening Phone clears it.
- Team Chat: unread team messages.
- Dashboard: the total of all three.
Counts above 99 show as 99+.
The Dashboard
The Dashboard greets you with "Welcome back" and has shortcuts to Phone ("Make & receive calls in your browser"), Messages ("Send & receive SMS and MMS") and Workspace settings, plus Getting started tips.
The Workspace page
Workspace in the sidebar lets you arrange tools side by side, for example the phone next to your texts and the switchboard, so you never switch pages mid-call. It starts with a single Phone panel.
Add panels
Select Add panel and choose from: Phone, Text messages, Team chat, Web chat, Switchboard, Wallboard, Contacts, Analytics, Compliance, Numbers, Port numbers, Fax, Receptionist and Abuse. Each panel only shows what your role is allowed to use.
Under Phone line (separate panel), choose one of your business numbers to open a Phone panel for that line. Its Calling as starts on that number, which is handy if you answer for several departments. All Phone panels share your one phone line.
Arrange them
On a large screen:
- Drag a tab to the edge of a panel to place it beside that panel.
- Drag a tab to the center of a panel to stack them as tabs.
- Drag the dividers between panels to resize them. Panels have a minimum width, so very narrow screens fit fewer side by side.
- Float this group (⧉) turns a group of panels into a floating window inside the page.
- Open in a new window (⤢) moves a group into its own browser window, ideal for a second monitor. You stay signed in, with no need to log in again.
Your layout is saved automatically on this browser. On another computer you'll start with the default layout. Reset layout takes you back to a single Phone panel.
The chat bar and notifications
- A chat bar at the bottom of every page lets you text customers without leaving what you're doing. See The chat bar.
- Incoming calls ring on every page, in a floating call card. See Taking calls from any page.
- When a new version of intSignal Connect is released, a banner says "A new version is available." with Reload. Finish any call first.
The Settings console
Owners and admins configure the phone system in Admin → Settings. The page is headed My Workspace, and has three tabs:
| Tab | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Visual Flow | A drag-and-drop map of all your call routing. See Visual Flow builder. |
| Settings | All configuration, in the groups below |
| Billing and Usage | Usage report and Call logs. See Call recording & call logs. |
Settings groups
| Group | Items |
|---|---|
| People & Phones | Users, Extensions, Shared phones* |
| Numbers & Routing | Phone numbers |
| Call Flows | AI Receptionist, Auto attendants, Announcements*, Ring groups, Paging*, Call queues*, Hold music*, Business hours, Time conditions* |
| Settings & Compliance | Branding*, Recording*, Switchboard access*, Change history*, E911, Feature codes, Company info* |
* Shown in the Advanced view only.
Easy and Advanced views
Next to CONFIGURATION, switch between Easy and Advanced:
- Easy shows the items and fields most businesses need.
- Advanced shows everything, including the items marked * above and extra fields such as ring strategies, lunch breaks and queue options.
Some panels, including ring groups, auto attendants, queues and business hours, also have their own View: Easy | Advanced switch. E911 and Feature codes always show in both views.
Your choice is remembered on this browser and starts on Easy. If an item in these docs is missing from your screen, switch to Advanced.
Applying changes
Most call-routing changes are saved as drafts and don't affect callers until you select Apply Configuration in the bar at the top of Settings. See Applying changes & change history.
If you're a member
Members don't see Admin in the sidebar. If a member opens the Dashboard's Workspace shortcut, they see "Use Phone, Messages and Meetings above. Ask a workspace admin if you need configuration access."
