UCaaS (Business Phone)

UCaaS overview

The intSignal cloud phone system — calling, business texting, and HD video meetings for your whole team, managed from one self-serve workspace.

intSignal UCaaS is a complete cloud phone system: business calling, texting, and HD video meetings for your whole organization, with nothing to rack and nothing to maintain. Your team works from desk phones, mobile apps, and a no-install browser phone — all sharing one set of numbers, extensions, and call routing.

This section is the customer guide: how to set up and run your phone system day to day. For what the platform includes and how it's licensed, see the intSignal UCaaS cloud phone system product page. If you're just getting started, begin with Getting started.

What's included

  • Calling — extensions and devices, phone numbers, and a full routing toolkit: auto-attendants, ring groups, call queues, business hours, and more.
  • Business texting — send and receive SMS from your business numbers, with a threaded messaging workspace.
  • Video meetings — HD meetings with shareable links, screen sharing, recording, and phone dial-in.
  • A browser phone — make and take calls from any modern browser, no install.
  • Voicemail — visual voicemail with automatic transcripts and summaries.

How you manage it

Everything is configured from your workspace — a self-serve console organized into clear areas (People & Phones, Numbers & Routing, Call Flows, Voicemail & Media, Meetings, Messaging, Reports, and Settings). Two important concepts appear throughout:

  • Easy / Advanced mode. Every configuration screen has an account-wide toggle. Easy shows the handful of settings most businesses need; Advanced reveals the full option set. You can switch anytime. Emergency calling (E911) is always shown in both modes.
  • Roles. Owners and Admins get the full console; Members get the phone, messages, and meetings. See Users & roles.

Emergency calling comes first

Before an extension can place outbound calls, it must have a verified emergency (E911) address. This is a safety requirement, and the console will guide you through it. See Emergency calling (E911).
