Managed IT · Technology
Not every engagement needs a SOC. This small technology firm needed reliable IT support and Microsoft 365 run properly — and nothing it didn't need. intSignal right-sized the engagement to the business.
The problem
No dedicated IT, with support falling to whoever had time.
What we did
Full IT support sized to the business.
The outcome
Right-sized engagement — no paying for services at the wrong scale.
The challenge
No dedicated IT, with support falling to whoever had time. Microsoft 365 configured once and never governed. Onboarding and offboarding handled ad hoc. No appetite for enterprise tooling they'd never use.
The approach
Full IT support sized to the business. Microsoft 365 administration and management. User lifecycle handled properly. Room to add security services as the company grows.
The thinking
The judgement here was knowing what not to sell. A firm this size doesn't need a SOC or an enterprise security stack, and paying for one would have been waste dressed up as diligence. We right-sized the engagement to reliable support and properly governed Microsoft 365 — one provider, predictable cost, and room to add security later when the business actually warrants it.
Why it works
Even at this scale the principle holds: one provider is easier to work with than several. No juggling a helpdesk vendor, an email vendor and a hardware vendor, no gaps between them, and one relationship that grows with the business. It keeps things simple now and leaves a single, accountable partner in place for when the company is ready for more.
Outcome
Microsoft 365 is configured and governed properly, onboarding and offboarding are reliable, and cost is predictable instead of surprise break-fix bills — with room to add security services as the company grows. No enterprise tooling it would never use, and no internal IT hire.
No internal IT hire required. Microsoft 365 licensing reviewed and matched to actual usage. Predictable monthly cost instead of surprise break-fix bills.
How these figures were derived
Effort and outcomes are reconstructed from production systems of record — ticket histories, call detail records, dispatch and SOC/NOC telemetry — read end to end rather than sampled. Cost comparisons are indexed to a baseline, never a fee or rate. Where a figure is modelled rather than measured it is labelled as such, and the model is documented and available to defend on request.

Technology
A technology company would rather its engineers build product than run IT. We took the whole operational stack off their desk.

A consulting firm was paying public-cloud prices for a platform that still buckled under load. We moved them onto dedicated hardware we operate, cut the bill by about 82%, and made it measurably faster.

A venue management ERP was hitting public-cloud costs and reliability limits at the same time. We moved it onto dedicated hardware we operate — about 78% cheaper, and faster where it actually mattered.
